Some weddings feel like they were meant to happen in one exact place, at one exact moment. That’s how it was with Lily and Reece at Villa Belvedere in Bertinoro, Italy. A small group of just 20 family members and friends gathered on a hilltop overlooking the valley, where the air felt slow and sweet, and the sunset seemed to linger just for them.
I had already gotten to know them months before in Savannah, Georgia, where we met for their engagement session and Lily’s bridal portraits. Spending that time together made the wedding day feel even more personal—I already knew the way Reece looked at Lily, and how she lit up whenever she laughed.
The entire week before the wedding, everyone stayed together at the villa. Days were spent by the pool, evenings watching the sun disappear behind the hills. By the time the wedding day arrived, it felt less like an event and more like the perfect next chapter in a week-long celebration.
Lily’s style turned heads all day. She didn’t just have one dress—she had three. The first, a Maggie Sottero gown for the ceremony, was timeless and elegant. For dinner, she changed into a chic Babyboo dress that fit the relaxed but stylish mood of the evening. And as the night went on, she slipped into a Rosie Etienne number that made her look like she had stepped straight out of a fashion editorial.
Reece’s reaction to their first look was unforgettable. The moment he saw Lily, the tears came instantly. The joy and emotion carried through the day—into the speeches, the quiet glances, and the happy chaos of friends and family gathered around a long dinner table lit by chandeliers, with the view of the valley stretching out below.
Not everything went perfectly—and that’s what made it even more memorable. During the champagne tower, the glasses tipped and shattered, but the laughter that followed made for one of my favorite photos of the day. After cake cutting and dancing under the stars, the night ended with everyone—yes, everyone—jumping into the pool fully clothed, the bride and groom leading the way.
While we spent time creating some beautiful editorial portraits, my favorite images came from the moments in between. The happy tears, the way guests leaned in to listen during toasts, the quiet touches between Lily and Reece when no one else was looking. Those are the memories that truly tell the story.
Lily and Reece’s wedding wasn’t about grand productions or strict timelines. It was about connection, joy, and the kind of love that feels just as easy as it does extraordinary. Villa Belvedere was the perfect place for it all to unfold.
